Cold wax medium or CWM, is composed of beeswax with a small amount of solvent to keep it soft. It is combined with oil paint and aids in drying time. Unlike Encaustic it requires no heat or ventilation set ups. Its paste-like consistency allows the artist to build up textural effects and layers.
